New post for PR chief

Cameron takes strategic comms role at SLI

Screenshot 2015-01-14 08.57.30Barry Cameron, head of corporate communications at Standard Life, is taking on a similar role at Standard Life Investments.

His appointment as head of strategic communications at SLI will be seen as a further indication of the company’s focus on its asset management business. It acquired Ignis Asset Management last year and recently confirmed that it will be expanding by taking office space in the nearby St Andrew Square development.

Cameron, who has been a part of the Standard Life comms team since 2000, will take up his new position next Monday. It was not clear how this will affect the SLI comms team.

Claire Burston will be acting head of PR for Standard Life corporate while the company searches for a permanent successor.

Cameron is a native of northeast Scotland, a graduate of Stirling University, and worked as a parliamentary assistant to Nora Radcliffe MSP and constituency assistant for Malcolm Bruce MP. He is a non-executive director of the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland.
