Cala buys former Weir site | digital event for north

Cala Homes has taken a further step towards a major project in Glasgow by purchasing the 5.87 acre site in Glasgow’s south side that was once part of the historic Weir Pumps factory, now owned by Celeros Flow Technology.
The house builder plans 254 homes on the site in Cathcart, renamed The Foundry, in what will be a £61 million development of apartments.
Glasgow city council granted planning permission in March this year to develop a third of the site being sold.
The homes will be powered by ground-source heat pumps while electric vehicle charging infrastructure will be installed.
Commsworld contract
Connectivity company Commsworld has secured a contract worth more than £35m over five years to provide network services to Glasgow City Council.
The contract – one of the largest in the Newbridge-headquartered company’s history – will see it expand its responsibilities for transforming the council’s infrastructure from ageing legacy networks to cutting-edge technologies and 5G network capabilities.
Commsworld will now be working on Glasgow’s Local Area Networks, Wi-Fi, firewall and security and remote access, to add to its delivery of a resilient Wide Area Network (WAN) solution and IP telephony.
