Not an ideal start for new cafe
Storm in a coffee cup as Burr opens for business
Edinburgh’s latest coffee shop, Burr & Co, opened its doors today after the major refurbishment of the street-facing rooms at the George Hotel.
The cafe occupies a former function suite and neighbours the former Tempus bar which reopens as the Printing Press.
Burr got off to an inauspicious start. Our man was meeting two business contacts but had trouble ordering a latte in a cup, after twice having it delivered in a glass which was too hot to handle, and then in a cup which needed warming up.
Counter staff had to be reminded twice that the order had not been delivered to the table. The chair at the table was wonky and the staff could not take card payments as the machine wasn’t working.
Hopefully, these were first day teething troubles and will be sorted out by the time Daily Business returns for another meeting next week to use the free coffee token provided to compensate for today’s hiccups.
