Crowfunding plan for distillery

GlenWyvis raises £750,000 in share issue

A second share offer to raise £750,000 for GlenWyvis community-owned distillery has been launched today with almost 350 investors pre-registered for the issue.

Construction of the distillery (pictured) in Dingwall is reaching the final stages and David O’Connor, chairman, said: “These last few weeks have really seen great change on site.

“It is great to see the distillery coming together, showing investors and the local community alike that our plan is on schedule.”

The second share offer on the Crowdfunder site will help to accelerate the brand development plans as the company targets the first run of spirit in November.

GlenWyvis already has some 2,600 members who invested in the £2.5m share offer last year through the same crowdfunding company. The minimum investment is £250.

There are plans to extend the GlenWyvis brand and product offering, bringing gin distilling into Dingwall, and further development of the GlenWyvis visitor experience around the town.

Distillery founder and managing director, John McKenzie, said: “It is an exciting time, and this new share offer will not only help us to fast-track our brand, but will reduce commercial lending costs, so we can deliver on our community benefit remit sooner.”
