20th anniversary celebration
Smoke Stack founder offers birthday prizes
Theatre tickets on the menu
Smoke Stack founder Richard Forbes is celebrating the Edinburgh restaurant’s 20th birthday by launching a competition for customers.
Mr Forbes, who came from a music industry background as a promoter in Glasgow and Edinburgh, said the past 20 years have seen a transformation of Edinburgh’s restaurant scene, but his Broughton Street business has retained a loyal base of regulars.
He said: “With more and more restaurants opening you begin to wonder if it will hit your takings, but not once in 20 years have I thought we are quieter because another one has opened.”
Smoke Stack will be uploading photos from the 1990s to its Facebook page https://poll.fbapp.io/xdjwoi and asking customers to tweet their favourite 1990s photo, using the hashtag #meinthe90s, by 13 November. Votes will be collected from 14 until 30 November.
The winner receives eight tickets to the acclaimed musical Wonderland at the Playhouse theatre, and their friends will get food and drink at Smoke Stack before the show and treated to cocktails afterwards.
Smoke Stack is also offering a 20% discount throughout November, on bookings made through its social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram), or by booking direct on its website at http://www.smokestack.org.uk/twenty.htm
Mr Forbes said: “We’re delighted by Smoke Stack’s continuing popularity over more than two decades. It’s all thanks to our customers, so we want to give them the opportunity to share our birthday celebrations.”
