Tue close: FTSE 100, 6731.14, +1.35 pts (0.02%)

A relatively quiet session in London with a lack of further news on some key deals keeping traders on tenterhooks.

BT rose 0.4 percent on talk of a deal to help it enter the mobile market and Aviva fell on assessment of its acquisition of Friends Life and closed 2p down at 508p.

Sky rose 2.6 percent and to the top of the FTSE 100’s gainers as investors bet on BT switching focus from television to mobile telephony.

Royal Bank of Scotland, after a series of setbacks, rebounded 8.2p or (2.16%) to 387.1p to finish behind Sky.
