Scottish Engineering chief executive Bryan Buchan is stepping down and will be succeeded by former Polaroid executive Paul Sheerin.

Mr Buchan has served five years at the helm of the industry body since replacing long-serving Peter Hughes.

His term has embraced key events including the Scottish independence referendum and the Brexit vote as well as handling members’s interests following the collapse in the oil price.

Mr Sheerin, a member of Scottish Engineering executive committee, is a former executive of Polaroid Eyewear and is currently managing director of Diamond Power Specialty.

Mr Buchan, 62, previously worked for Johnson & Johnson and Bausch + Lomb and became CEO of 370-member Scottish Engineering in October 2012.
