RBS to open more branches on Bank Holiday Monday

Royal Bank of ScotlandRoyal Bank of Scotland and NatWest will open 65 branches on Bank Holiday Monday following the success of a trial opening of 34 branches on May Day.

The bank says the decision to end the traditional shutdown is in response to customer demands to allow access when many of them are not at work.

More branches will open next Monday and will continue to have extra mortgage advisers available.

RBS said many small business owners found the earlier bank holiday opening useful to deposit their takings from the weekend.

As a result of this feedback and new for this bank holiday, extra business managers will also be in some of the branches to help small business customers.

Jane Howard, managing director of branch and private banking, said: “After the trial of our last bank holiday opening, the feedback from our customers and staff was overwhelmingly positive. As a result, we’re extending our opening to the forthcoming May bank holiday.

“Banking has changed dramatically over the last few years and we’re continually looking at ways to adapt and improve the service we provide.

“Our customers have busy lives and can’t always make it to a branch during the week. We want to make their lives easier by opening more of our branches on a day when they are traditionally off work.”
