RBS veteran takes role at Capital Credit Union

Steven MurrayCapital Credit Union has appointed an experienced banker to a key senior role as the organisation aims to grow its membership.

Steven Murray, a 20-year veteran of the RBS Group, has been appointed business development manager at the Edinburgh-based credit union, which  has 23,000 members across the Lothians, Borders, Fife and Angus.

Capital’s chief executive, Marlene Shiels, said: “Steven is a vastly experienced relationship manager with a background in both personal and business banking. He has an excellent network of contacts across different sectors and I’m delighted to welcome him to Capital.”

Steven added: “There is a growth agenda and desire to target new markets here at Capital and this is an exciting time to be joining the team. Credit unions in general – and Capital in particular – are set to play an increasingly important role in the financial services sector.”

Capital, which has assets of £33 million, will be celebrating its 30th anniversary during 2019.
