Exclusive: Middle East owner to go-it-alone
Dalmahoy hotel in split from Marriott
Daily Business has learned that the 215-room hotel and its owner, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), will run the hotel independently.
The decision is said to be “mutual” but no explanation has been given for the split.
In a statement, the hotel said: “Marriott International and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) have announced that the 215 room (203 guest rooms and 12 suites) Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Edinburgh, UK will cease to operate as a Marriott Hotel, effective 1 August 2016.
“From that date, it will operate independently without any affiliation to Marriott.
“This is a mutual decision between both parties, who are working together to ensure a seamless transition.
“This situation is specific to the Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club and does not affect the 10 other Marriott Hotel & Country Clubs in the UK.”
Requests for a statement from Marriott received no reply.
