Craft brewer ties up with Thatchers
Innis & Gunn signs second US cider deal
The agreement to distribute Green Goblin comes seven months after signing a three-year deal with Thatchers to launch its flagship brand, Thatchers Gold, which is now available in 18 states.
Innis & Gunn USA managing director, Dan Deluca, said: “From a standing start we have made a significant impact in retail for Thatchers Gold and are delighted that they have chosen to partner with us again on Green Goblin.”
Since first shipping to the US in 2010, Innis & Gunn’s range of signature oak-aged brews is now available in 20 states and has grown at 32% by volume year-on-year According to Mr Deluca, “feet on the street” are critical to success in the USA and the agreement with Thatchers has enabled IGUSA to significantly increase its salesforce to drive growth for the two brand owners.
“In the US, because the marketplace is so fragmented, the best advantage for any brand to make a real impact is manpower,” he added.
“We have built great distribution in the US and now have a salesforce that can deliver on our growth plans. We expect Thatchers and Innis & Gunn to benefit substantially from having this enlarged team in 2015.”
Commenting on the relationship, Martin Thatcher, fourth generation cidermaker, said: “Since Thatchers Gold was introduced into the USA at the beginning of the year we’ve been overwhelmed by the response we’ve received and the great comments from people who have had their first taste of authentic English cider.
“Working with our friends at Innis & Gunn, masters at crafting authentic beers much in demand in the US, we’re now looking forward to introducing our second cider, Green Goblin.”
