Funding support from the Scottish government will help promote opportunities in commercial property to international investors.

Stephen Flynn, the Economy Secretary, is backing Real Estate: Scotland in a new partnership focused on events such as the MIPIM 2027 international property and investment conference in Cannes and UKREiiF held in Leeds.

Both attract thousands of institutional investors from home and abroad with billions of pounds to support real estate projects.

A £100,000 package from the Scottish Government is matched by £108,000 from the private sector and will enable direct engagement with key investors, as well as long-term relationship building. It was announced at a parliamentary reception hosted by Paul McLennan MSP.

Cameron Stott, chair of Real Estate: Scotland and head of Scotland for JLL, said a coordinated approach to promoting Scotland internationally for real estate investment and business opportunities “reflects an appreciation of the economic and social impact the property sector has on communities throughout Scotland.”

He added: “This support is a welcome catalyst for our industry and a real vote of confidence in what the Scottish real estate sector has to offer.

“It gives us a platform to represent Scotland with one voice, showcasing the strength of our real estate sector, builds a platform for investment into Scotland and supports the sector to win business opportunities for Scottish real estate companies globally.”

Mr Flynn said: “Real Estate Scotland’s inaugural parliamentary reception is a welcome opportunity to bring together industry, parliamentarians and government to support investment and economic growth.

“Our joint participation in MIPIM 2027… demonstrates that partnership in action.”

Robertson Group has worked closely with Scottish Government and industry partners over the past year to help develop the initiative.

Chief executive Elliot Robertson said: “This programme gives Scotland an opportunity to take a more coordinated approach to attracting investment and promoting the strengths of our real estate sector.

“The opportunity now is for the industry to come together behind a shared set of priorities and make a strong case for investment in Scotland. By working together, we can create the conditions for a thriving and growing economy, attracting investment, supporting job growth and creating opportunities across the country.

“We would encourage organisations from across the sector to join us as partners in Invest Scotland and help build a stronger, more unified platform for showcasing Scotland internationally.”
