New identity

Aberdein Considine becomes LLP in record year

Jacqueline Law: proud

Legal, property and wealth management firm Aberdein Considine has enjoyed a record financial year as it converts to a limited liability partnership with a new brand identity.

For the year 2024-25 profit rose 41% on a turnover of £37 million. The move to an LLP model follows a period of significant growth in the firm’s specialisms and geographic reach, including the opening of an office in Manchester.

Jacqueline Law, managing partner, said: “I’m extremely proud of the firm’s performance over recent years, and particularly this last year. Our teams across the business have worked hard to get us here.”

On the rebrand, she said: “Aberdein Considine started out in Aberdeen over 40 years ago. Today, the firm is a major player in the legal, property and wealth management sectors, with teams all over Scotland and in the north of England.

“Our new brand identity captures that story: how we have evolved over the years, and with a more contemporary feel.”

The new LLP is authorised and regulated by the Law Society of Scotland, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and the Financial Conduct Authority.

As part of the restructure, the firm’s wealth management business is to be transferred to a separate limited company, Aberdein Considine Wealth, trading as AC Wealth.

“Both firms will continue to benefit from a close working relationship based within the same offices.

The conversion to LLP has no impact on the day-to-day operation of the business.

Harper Macleod reports further growth

Harper Macleod has recorded a turnover of £43.5m for the year to 31 March 2025, an increase of nearly 20% on the previous 12 months (£36.5m).

Headcount across its five offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Elgin and Lerwick also increased to 466 from 446 in the previous year, a 43% rise since 2014, as the firm saw more demand for its services.

In the last two years, it has recruited 38 trainee lawyers making it in one of the largest recruiters of legal graduates in Scotland.

Professor Lorne Crerar, chairman and founding partner, said: “We’re entering a new phase, underpinned by a strong financial foundation, and confidence in our abilities to deliver.”
