Nicola Watson joins the family law team

Legal firm Aberdein Considine has appointed Nicola Watson as partner in its family law team, a Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked practice spearheaded by Legal 500 and Chambers band 1 leading partner Ruth Aberdein.

Joining from Livingstone Brown, where she was a senior associate, and with ten-plus years’ experience in family law, Ms Watson will be based in Aberdein Considine’s Glasgow office.

Her appointment sees Aberdein Considine further boost its family law offering in the central belt. She will work closely with Edinburgh-based fellow partner Leonie Burke and associate Emma Roman to support clients from across the southern half of Scotland at the firm’s Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Stirling offices.

A Law Society of Scotland-accredited family mediator, Ms Watson became a solicitor in January 2016, after starting her career at Livingstone Brown in 2014 as a trainee solicitor.

During her career to date, she has gained experience across the family law sector, handling issues relating to children, relocation, divorce, and separation agreements.

She frequently gives advice on financial matters related to divorce and preparing pre-nuptial and pre-cohabitation agreements. Ms Watson has experience working on international child abduction cases under the Hague Convention, representing both petitioners and respondents.

She has dealt with school placing requests, attaining places for children within local authority schools following applications to Sheriff Court. Ms Watson is STEP qualified in wills and executries.

Ruth Aberdein, partner and head of family law at Aberdein Considine, said: “At Aberdein Considine, we strive to provide our family law clients across Scotland with the best possible standards of service and expert, comprehensive family law advice tailored to their specific needs. Nicola brings a wealth of experience.”
