A Scottish cybersecurity firm is claiming one of the fastest response times to tackling attacks on companies.

Acumen Cyber says it not only monitors threats but prevents, detects and responds to them in real-time.

This has allowed Acumen’s security engineers to analyse more than 10 billion events in the last year, halting more than 500 potential threats, with an average response time of 28.56 minutes, far ahead of the industry average of 162 hours.

From its inception, Acumen set out to redefine how a SOC should function, prioritising speed, efficiency and collaboration.

This week it marked its first anniversary as an independent managed security service provider with the official opening of its new headquarters at EastWorks, Glasgow, where it hosts its Security Operations Centre. Its headcount has risen by 60% and it has 18 new clients.

Business minister Richard Lochhead attended the event, noting about half of all UK businesses and a third of charities reported some form of cyber breach or attack last year.

“Cyber crime is a growing and evolving threat to our economy and national security. It’s essential that organisations have the right support and expertise to deal with these threats,” he said.

“Acumen Cyber is a great example of a Scottish business – not only responding to the serious issue of cyber security, but also developing innovation that will contribute to the creation of jobs and deliver benefits across the local economy.”
