Whisky and cigar shop plans new experience

Robert Graham is seeking to expand its offering

A historic haven for whisky and cigar enthusiasts is planning an “immersive” retail experience in the centre of Edinburgh.

Robert Graham 1874, celebrating 150 years of heritage, wants to double the size of its premises in the narrow pedestrianised Rose Street by including a new shop, bar and outdoor facilities.

It says the extension will enable it to hold private events, bespoke tastings, and a range of experiential activities.

The business is based in Glasgow and has another outlet in Cambridge. It has one of the largest selections of finest whiskies, cigars, tobacco products, and accessories in the country.

It currently holds 36 casks in bond and is poised to unveil new expressions. Each of the three stores has a walk-in humidor, a room with constant humidity.

Stephen Johnston, owner and MD, said: “Our new retail concept is set to transform traditional retail into a premium destination experience by extending our existing premises to cater for both locals and tourists alike.

“We’re excited to bring a new chapter to our heritage on Rose Street. Our planning application reflects our vision for creating an exclusive environment where whisky and cigar enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a truly unique experience.”

The plans have been drawn up by Block Nine Architects.
