Housebuilding veterans join Cala Group board

Housebuilder Cala Group has appointed sector veteran Ian Sutcliffe as non-executive chairman, effective immediately, and Tom Nicholson as non-executive director.
Mr Sutcliffe has served in a similar role at Sigma Capital Group since 2020 and he was group chief executive of Countryside Properties until that year.
He was also chief operating officer for the UK arm of SECRO and UK chief executive of Taylor Wimpey.
Mr Nicholson is another seasoned executive in the housebuilding sector, having previously served as chief operating officer at Crest Nicholson, divisional chairman at Linden Homes, as well as holding positions at Galliford Try, Berkeley Homes and Trafalgar House.
The appointments at Cala follow the acquisition of the company by Sixth Street and Patron Capital, completed on 31 October last year.
Commenting on the appointments, Kevin Whitaker, CEO of Cala, said: “Their broad-ranging board experience and extensive leadership background in business and the housebuilding sector will be invaluable as we enter this next phase of growth.”
