Two Scottish IT companies have come together with the acquisition of IFB by Converged Communication Solutions.

They have played a pivotal role in shaping the digital infrastructure of northeast Scotland as the two largest internet service providers in Aberdeen, and will now offer an enhanced service.

All 15 IFB employees will join Converged, with the entire team relocating to Spires Business Centre, alongside Converged’s headquarters. It will bring the group’s headcount to 63.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, marks the third acquisition for Converged in two years and takes its turnover closer to £10 million.

Neil Christie, CTO, said: “This acquisition is a natural fit, uniting two local businesses with a shared passion for using digital technology to drive business success.

“IFB’s expertise in providing connectivity solutions perfectly complements our enhanced business offering.”

IFB was co-founded by chairman, John Michie, and has been providing connectivity and IT solutions to businesses for nearly three decades.

Graeme Gordon, CEO, said: “Joining forces with Converged allows us to take our service offering to the next level, giving our customers access to an even broader portfolio of solutions.”

The two entrepreneurs enjoy a long-standing relationship, with Mr Christie having begun his career at IFB before setting up Converged 20 years ago.
