Outlet shutting
Nike to close Edinburgh store by end of month

Sports leisurewear giant Nike is closing its factory store at Craigleith Retail Park, Edinburgh, with 30 workers affected.
The outlet, which sells a discounted range of Nike athletic footwear, apparel and accessories, is shutting amid claims that it was unable to agree a new lease with its landlord. Employees say they only heard the decision last week.
A spokesperson for Nike said: “We constantly evaluate our store locations to give us the best opportunity to personally connect with consumers through premium products, experiences, and services.
“As part of this retail strategy, the Nike Craigleith Store will close [on] 26 January.”
Nike, which has just revealed the transformation of its flagship store in Glasgow, has other stores at Loanhead, Livingston, East Kilbride and Bishopbriggs.
It is the latest big brand to close a retail park outlet after failing to renegotiate new terms with its landlord. TK Maxx closed its store at Meadowbank, Edinburgh, in February 2023 after the landlord terminated the lease.
Silverburn shopping centre near Glasgow has announced a record-breaking year for footfall, surpassing its previous record year in 2023 by 42,000 visitors.
In total, the centre welcomed 15.2 million visitors in 2024, with a 2.4% increase in foot traffic in December alone.
This growth comes as Silverburn confirms the signing of several retail and leisure brands, set to occupy over 100,000 sq. ft. of space this year.
Rodd & Gunn has opened its first Glasgow store, located in Royal Exchange Square. It is the company’ssecond store in Scotland and the fourth stand-alone UK location in the past year.
