Frasers’ Overgate makeover expected to lift Dundee

Frasers Group is continuing its transformation of Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee at pace and has announced that its 100,000 sq ft concept store will open in May.
Following the acquisition by the Sports Direct owner in March 2023, the shopping centre has been undergoing a transformation with a number of new brands introduced including Rituals, Pandora, Lovisa, Bee Inspired, and The Leith Collective.
Existing retailers have been reinvesting with refits and refurbishments. More than 20 leases have been renewed.
There will be a further tranche of store openings, including Frasers’ brand Flannels, Catalan fashion retailer Mango and British heritage brand Clarks Shoes – which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.
Castore, the British premium sportswear brand which has a deal with Sir Andy Murray has just opened a store on the upper mall.
Mooboo Tea has opened a concept store on the upper level. American bakery chain Cinnabon is expected to open in the spring. This coincides with the relocation of Muffin Break which has expanded into a larger unit on the lower mall beside the well-established Five Guys.
In a further significant vote of confidence in Overgate, three key existing tenants: Next, Office and TUI, have each extended their leases.
Malcolm Angus, centre manager, said: “The Frasers concept store is one of the largest shop fit-outs Dundee has ever seen. Everything, on every level, will be brand new.
“Once complete, Frasers will be a remarkable modern department store that will transform Overgate, regenerate the city of Dundee, and strengthen the east coast of Scotland’s retail offering.
“Overgate welcomed around eight million visitors in 2024 and we expect that to rise significantly in 2025. It’s going to be a very busy and exciting first half of the year.”
