E.ON accelerates ultra-rapid EV charging hubs

Energy company E.ON is installing more ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hubs across Scotland.
They will be located near Edinburgh, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Stirling and will capable of providing 150 miles of range in only ten minutes. The firm has a single charging hub in Scotland: south of Aberdeen.
The announcement comes a month after Transport Scotland opened its consultation on plans to expand charging, including continued private sector investment.
The Aberdeen hub operational at Wellington Circle features 12 ultra-rapid charging bays, including four designed with additional accessibility for disabled users.
While Scotland has the second-largest geographic EV charging network in the UK, the distances between chargers can create challenges for drivers. E.On’s new hubs will bridge critical gaps in infrastructure, making charging more accessible and enabling seamless journeys for EV drivers.
Across the UK, E.On has installed around 8,000 home chargers and 2,000 chargers for small businesses, enabling over 50 million miles of EV charging in 2024 alone.
Dev Chana, managing director of E.ON drive infrastructure in the UK, said: “Our goal is to make electric driving seamless and accessible for everyone, and these new charging hubs are a significant step forward in Scotland’s transition to cleaner transportation.”
