Louis Schena: founder

Glasgow based Swipii, which operates a cashback loyalty scheme for local businesses, is expanding its service to Edinburgh.

Through its free app Swipii provides cashback incentives to local consumers when they dine at or collect from hospitality businesses near them.

The company, founded by Louis Schena, currently works with more than 80 bars, restaurants and cafes in Glasgow.

Swipii’s already has a presence in Edinburgh with Bar Soba, Topolabamba and Quattro Zero, but the company has ambitions to tie up with businesses across the city and its suburbs.

Delivery firm sees sales uplift

Online food and drinks delivery firm Flavourly is on target to hit £10 million in sales this year as the lockdown has boosted demand for home-based purchases.

The Edinburgh-based company said it was already benefiting pre-Covid from changing shopping habits but it was in April that the lockdown effect kicked in with a near-400% increase in sales.

It has taken a lease on a 17,500 sq foot warehouse at Glasgow Airport Business Park and moved its entire delivery operations to DPD.

Flavourly co-founder and CMO, Assean Sheikh said: “2020 was always going to be a big year for Flavourly as we implemented a number of new initiatives but the impact of coronavirus lockdowns has really accelerated our growth allowing us to extend our offering.”
