Deal boosts global position
William Grant acquires tequila distillery in Mexico
Signing on in Mexico: the company is building global momentum
Drinks firm William Grant & Sons has bolstered its position in Tequila and other agave spirits with the acquisition of a distillery in Mexico, aimed at supporting the growth of its Milagro label.
It will support the strong momentum at the company within the premium spirits segment.
Financial details weren’t disclosed, but Grant noted that the purchase is part of a “multi-million pound investment plan to build its brands globally and upgrade its infrastructure to support its growth ambitions.”
The distillery will produce exclusively for William Grant & Sons brands.
The company, best known for Glenfiddich scotch whisky, has recently relaunched Milagro Select Barrel Reserve, the brand’s luxury-priced tier.
Since 2015, the Milagro tequila brand has averaged double-digit sales growth for Wm Grant in the key US market.
