Second plan for rented homes alongside the M8

Dalian House will be converted to homes

Another empty office building close to the M8 underpass in central Glasgow is likely to be turned into private rented housing.

Mosaic Architecture + Design has submitted plans on behalf of Calmont Group to convert the former NHS Glasgow headquarters into 92 homes.

Dalian House in St Vincent Street has lain vacant and on the market since 2010.

The application follows plans announced in August to redevelop Portcullis House, which occupies a 0.8 acre site in India Street on the other side of the M8. It has been acquired by Watkin Jones from Mapeley Investment Group.

Graham Brooker, director of Calmont, said: “Providing good quality and well-managed accommodation in the city centre for young professionals and key workers is an essential part of regenerating city centres.

“The redevelopment of Dalian House sits within a wider portfolio of similar schemes that we are rolling out across other cities in the UK.”
