Kleinwort lures Lockhart; Higgins to chair AAB Wealth

Kleinwort Hambros has lured Richard Lockhart from Adam & Co to take over as director of private banking in its Edinburgh office. 

Mr Lockhart will be responsible for originating and managing client relationships and helping to develop Kleinwort Hambros’ presence in Scotland. He will report to Chris Thomson, head of Edinburgh and head of UK Regions.

He joined Adam & Company, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland, as a Private Banker in 1989, and became a director in 2004 before being appointed executive director in 2010.

At Adam & Company, he worked with a broad range of high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.

Mr Lockhart joins Kleinwort Hambros as the Edinburgh office marks its 10th Anniversary.

Mr Thomson said: “We are extremely proud of what we have achieved in Edinburgh with over 10 years of uninterrupted annual growth. 

“An appointment of Richard’s calibre illustrates that, after 10 years, our local growth shows no sign of slowing down.”

Higgins joins AAB Wealth

Anderson Anderson & Brown Wealth has appointed banking and insurahce veteran Benny Higgins as non-executive chairman.

Mr Higgins has held a number of senior roles in the financial services industry over the last 30 years.

He was latterly CEO of Tesco Bank for 10 years, and previously held senior roles at Standard Life, HBOS and RBS / NatWest where he was CEO retail banking, which included its wealth management offering.

He is currently executive Chairman of property and land management company Buccleuch and led an inquiry into the setting up of the Scottish National Investment Bank. He is also chairman of the National Galleries of Scotland.
