Urban Outfitters gives long term commitment to Glasgow

Taking stock: lease renewed

Urban Outfitters has committed its future to Buchanan Street in Glasgow for an additional five years, offering the prime shopping location a welcome vote of confidence.

The Philadelphia company has held a lease on 22,000 sq ft of the former Scottish Stock Exchange building since 2001. AEW acquired it earlier this year.

Peter Hutton, head of retail and occupier services for Cushman & Wakefield, acted for AEW in the letting.

He said sister company – Anthropologie – is keen to acquire representation in the city.

“This transaction follows a number of recent additions on Buchanan Street including Schuh, Victoria’s Secret, Penhaligons, Jo Malone, Chisholm Hunter and The Ivy,” he said.

Urban Outfitters was represented by Andrew Donachie at The McDevitt Company.
