OnScale, a global engineering software company headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, has opened new premises in Glasgow which will create 45 engineering, developer and enterprise sales jobs.

It follows a £450,000 regional selective assistance (RSA) grant from Scottish Enterprise.

The funding for the Glasgow office expansion is part of an overall $10 million Series A investment into OnScale from Silicon Valley investors including Intel Capital and Gradient Ventures.

About $1 million of the overall funds have been allocated to grow the OnScale team in Scotland to further develop software and cloud technologies to allow high tech companies to reduce research and development costs and get the new technology to market more quickly.

Products and services that will be developed at OnScale’s new premises include developing the world’s first stimulation tools which aid components for 5G smart phones.

OnScale engages with local universities across a range of activities including internships, training courses for students and support of doctoral training centres.

During a visit to the premises, Derek Mackay, Finance and Economy Secretary, said: “This is a great demonstration of the confidence that major foreign investors have in Scotland as a place to lay down roots, in spite of the continuing uncertainty around Brexit.
