Murray lands fourth doubles title in New York

Jamie Murray helped raise spirits around Britain’s top tennis family by landing his fourth mixed doubles title and becoming the first man to win the trophy at Flushing Meadows for three consecutive years.
A straight-sets triumph alongside American Bethanie Mattek-Sands ensured their was something to cheer in the Murray household as brother Andy continues his recovery from a hip injury.
The pair defended their title with victory over top seeds Chan Hao-ching of Taiwan and New Zealander Michael Venus.
Jamie Murray also won the mixed doubles in New York alongside Martina Hingis in 2017, a year after claiming the men’s title with Brazilian partner Bruno Soares. It is his seventh Grand Slam victory.
Mattek-Sands, who underwent surgery in March after being injured at Wimbledon two years ago, celebrated the victory by taking a selfie on the court with Murray on court. It was her ninth Grand Slam doubles title.
