Role for Edinburgh head

Thomson promoted to head of Kleinwort Hambros head of regions

Kleinwort Hambros has appointed Edinburgh office head Chris Thomson, pictured, as head of UK regions.

He replaces Leigh Philpot who has left the business after just six months in the job. Philpot took on the newly-created role in February, having joined the firm in 2006. He is expected to take up a new role in September.

Previously Philpot created the bank’s IFA proposition. Before that, he ran the private banking and discretionary fund management team.

Mr Thomson will continue in his Edinburgh role where he has been since 2008, while developing activity across offices in Leeds, Newbury and Cambridge.  Prior to Kleinwort Hambros, he spent 12 years in investment banking, split between London and New York.

He founded the Edinburgh office covering Scotland, the north of England and Northern Ireland, although it has clients from across the UK and Channel Islands.

Steven Porter has been appointed head of the client service team to provide a link between clients, private bankers and support services. With over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, he joins from Societe Generale.
