Hi-fi firm Linn secures funding ahead of Harrods showcase
High-end hi-fi, made in Glasgow
Premium hi-fi manufacturer, Linn, has secured an exclusive deal to launch a new wireless music system in Harrods the Knightsbridge department store.
The East Renfrewshire company, which has been making top-end audio kit since 1973, has received £1 million from Barclays for product innovation and expansion into new markets.
One of its latest systems will be showcased in Harrods new fifth floor specialist technology department this October. The Vision zone opened this month with a large-scale viewing auditorium.
With a staff of 170 working from the factory located on the outskirts of Glasgow, the family-owned, independent business expects to generate an additional £1.4m this financial year.
Latest accounts show that profits increased to £1.39 million, up from some £865,000. That was despite a 6.3% decrease in turnover to £16.93m.
Every Linn product is hand-built, tested and packaged by one skilled technician who signs their name to it only once they’re happy it meets Linn’s high quality standards.
Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn Managing Director, commented: “The funding has been a welcome boost to our latest product development project and we look forward to its successful launch in October and our continuing good relationship with Barclays.”
Jamie Grant, head of region Scotland & Northern Ireland, at Barclays, said: “This Glasgow-based business has a rich heritage and an exciting future and is exactly the type of manufacturing business we want to work with to support Scotland’s economic growth.”
