Death of PR guru
Margaret Thatcher’s PR adviser Lord Bell has died

Memorable election campaign poster for Tory party
Lord Bell, who advised former Tory leader and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, has died aged 77.
The founder of City PR agency Bell Pottinger played a role in the Conservative Party’s successful election campaigns in 1979, 1983 and 1987.
He was responsible for the Conservatives’ “Labour isn’t working” poster campaign in 1978, which showed a long unemployment queue.
The company represented powerful international clients but also also courted controversy for offering advice to the likes of former Chile dictator Augusto Pinochet and Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus.
Lord Bell had left the firm to start afresh following reports that the firm had stoked racial tensions in South Africa.
