Griggs to chair new South Of Scotland Enterprise agency
Professor Russel Griggs has been appointed chairman of South of Scotland Enterprise, the new economic development agency for the region.
Professor Griggs has held a number of non-executive positions across the private, public and third sectors, as well as undertaking a variety of strategic work for public bodies and private companies. He has wide-ranging experience of public sector boards, including of VisitScotland, Scottish Enterprise and the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland.
An honorary Professor of the University of Glasgow, he was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to Scottish industry and currently chairs the Scottish Government’s Independent Regulatory Review Group and the South of Scotland Economic Partnership.
Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing said: “Russel brings a wealth of experience to the role, gained through his extensive career in the public, private and third sectors. I am sure he will use this experience to bring a fresh approach to supporting the economic growth of the South of Scotland.
