Euro test: Neil Lennon (pic: SNS Group)
Celtic’s long and potentially hazardous journey to the group stages of the Champions League will begin in Bosnia-Herzegovina next month.
Neil Lennon’s treble Treble winners have been drawn against Sarajevo in the first qualifying round, with the first leg taking place at Parkhead on 9 or 10 July with the return leg a week later.
Celtic will have to negotiate four rounds to reach the money-spinning group phase, having last season failed to get that far for the first time in three years.
Sarajevo, who won the league and cup double last season, are managed by former Hearts player Husref Musemic, who starred for the Jambos in 1989.
Rangers await the winners of Kosovo’s FC Prishtina versus St Joseph’s of Gibraltar in the Europa League, with Steven Gerrard’s side away from home for the first leg on 11 July.
Kilmarnock will take on Connah’s Quay Nomads on their return to the European stage, new manager Angelo Alessi taking his men to Wales for the first leg.
Aberdeen take on RoPS of Finland with the first leg at Pittodrie.
The second legs will all take place on Thursday, 18 July.
