Wellpro Group, the Aberdeen-based well intervention specialist, has expanded into the Middle East with its first acquisition in Dubai.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, for the thru-tubing service and rental business of Hunting Energy Services is the company’s first of its kind in the region.
With offices already in Asia, the move continues the international growth of Wellpro following its launch in 2018.
Hunting Energy Services’ existing team of 13 employees – including onshore support and field personnel – will all transfer to the Wellpro Group, which hopes to create several jobs in the Middle East region.
It has already committed to making further investment to the existing premises, located in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, over the coming months.
Jim Thomson, chief executive of Wellpro Group, said: “Our diligence has identified how much our new colleagues are qualified and well-known in the industry.
“We are very confident that together we will achieve our ambitious international expansion objectives.”
Wellpro Group’s HQ in Aberdeen will remain the centre of excellence supporting the Middle East and Asia offices with a significant investment being made in additional equipment to support Eastern Hemisphere operations.
