New management role
Walker returns to Menzies with focus on cost control
Mr Walker, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the ground handling industry, is returning to the group after spending four years working on a selection of projects and initiatives in the sector.
Prior to this, spent 14 years at Menzies working in a number of senior operational posts. He will focus on operational discipline, cost control and productivity and work closely with interim chief executive, Giles Wilson who took over following the abrupt departure of Forsyth Black last month.
Menzies has invested significantly in systems and processes over the last three years and the group is now focusing on targeted and successful deployment of these tools to ensure bottom line benefits are delivered. Mr Walker will work with the team to deliver these benefits whilst also focusing on operational efficiency and his appointment builds on a management review that is already under way, looking at operating costs and driving out efficiencies across the organisation.
Mr Wilson said: “I am pleased that Mervyn is re-joining the group at this exciting time in Menzies’ journey. His in depth knowledge of the business combined with his operational expertise and focus on efficiency will help us to deliver on our short and medium term objectives.”
