O’Neill swaps accountant; brand agency launches

Brian O'NeillComms operator Brian O’Neill is switching employer but is continuing to play the numbers game as he prepares to swap one accountancy firm for another.

He will leave his role as head of PR & communications at Grant Thornton in Scotland after five years to join the team at KPMG, where he will also cover the oil and gas sector.

His move has raised questions about KPMG’s continued relationship with The Big Partnership which has been its PR agency for some time.

O’Neill, a former planning producer and Scotland editor at ITV, joins the Big Four firm as it prepares for a huge expansion of operations in Glasgow and the implications of any changes planned to its auditing business following criticism over the firm’s handling of collapsed construction company Carillion’s accounts.

Brand new agency

A new branding agency, The Design Hub, has launched in Inverness as a collaboration of creative specialists from three firms: the graphic design business 2bcreative, web developer Aurora Design Studio and communications agency Whale-like-fish.

Commenting on the launch, Helen Ross, partner of the Design Hub, said: “Our agency brings together three businesses, all working from the same studio, to help other businesses create, launch and drive their brand forward.”

Clients being handled by the new agency include Mowi, Cru Holdings and HHH Equipment.
