Simpson to be new secretary at Gullane Golf Club

Gordon Simpson, the new secretary at Gullane Golf ClubGordon Simpson, the managing secretary at Ladybank Golf Club, is to become the new secretary of Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian.

A former director of golf at Newmachar in Aberdeenshire, Mr Simpson will take up his new role in April.

He joined Ladybank in June 2016, moving to Fife from Chigwell Golf Club where he was general manager for three-and-a-half years.

Mr Simpson (pictured) replaces David Morgan, who has left Gullane after four-and-a-half years to take up a similar post at Royal County Down GC in Northern Ireland.

“I’ve had a fabulous time and wish my replacement Gordon Simpson all the very best when he starts,” said Mr Morgan.

“I’m hopeful he enjoys it as much as I have. It’s hard not to when you’re working with what is a truly passionate and hard-working staff team.

“We’ve delivered the redevelopment of the members’ clubhouse, hosted two Scottish Opens, one Ladies Scottish Open and a Men’s Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship. All this as well as working to keep 1600 members happy.

“It’s been a blast!”

This search to fill the senior management position at Ladybank GC is being handled by Contemporary Club Leadership.
