FCA regulators are planning expansion

One of Britain’s key financial regulators is believed to be doubling its workforce to 200 in a major step-change in its operations north of the border.

Daily Business has learned that the Financial Conduct Authority is to hire staff as part of a growing engagement with communities across the UK. It has an office in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh.

The FCA regulates the conduct of more than 58,000 businesses across the UK including ISAs, pensions, credit cards, and investments. Its strategic objective is to ensure that the relevant markets function well.

It is an independent public body funded entirely by the firms it regulates.

The FCA was asked to comment and a reply was awaited.
