Indian call centre company adds 150 staff in Selkirk

Partha DeSarkarAn Indian contact centre business is recruiting 150 staff for its facility in the Borders over the next year after installing a new management team.

The announcement by Hinduja Global Solutions, listed on the India stock markets, follows a meeting between global CEO, Partha DeSarkar (pictured) and Scotland’s Deputy First Minister, John Swinney, at the company’s headquarters in Bangalore.

HGS already employs 265 staff in Selkirk and has acquired the site from its lease holder.  

Mr DeSarkar said: “The location and people of Scotland deliver best-in-class performance for our growing roster of clients.” 

Mr Swinney added: “Hinduja Global Solutions are highly valued investors and I am delighted with their continued growth in Scotland.This is a clear confirmation of Scotland’s attractiveness to inward investors.”

HGS employs more than 44,000 people worldwide and in the UK operates customer contact centres in Selkirk, Preston and London. It serves a variety of businesses from its Selkirk centre, both public and private, covering FMCG, Healthcare, Technology, Media and Telecom, and Financial Services customers.
