Virgin Active signs up Equator for digital revamp
Robert Cook: ‘exciting time’
Health club group Virgin Active has appointed digital agency Equator to help transform its UK online offering.
The first phase of the project will involve a total re-brand of the group’s website, to be built on Sitefinity, Virgin’s chosen global platform.
Virgin Active has 233 clubs in seven countries. Robert B Cook, managing director, said “This is an exciting time for the fitness industry with digital and wearable devices playing a critical part in the member experience.
“Therefore, ensuring our website intelligently utilises data to connect with our members in real-time and help them achieve their goals, is a key focus for us.”
Equator, which won the account in a pitch against four other agencies, has a staff of 170 in London and Glasgow and client accounts with firms such as AXA, SSE, Malmaison and Clydesdale Bank.
Garry Hamilton, business development director, said: “We are excited to be working with Virgin Active as its strategic partner. While it is a huge household name in the UK, the brand is currently competing in an extremely crowded marketplace.”
