Lawyers take new option
Gilson Gray snaps up pair due to join Morton Fraser
A Scottish legal firm has swooped to poach two private client managers who were due to join a rival firm.
Euan Fleming (pictured) and Joe Davies have decided not to make the switch from Addleshaw Goddard to Morton Fraser as part of an exchange of business announced last month.
It is understood, though not confirmed, that others in the 10-strong team have decided not to make the move.
Instead, the pair will join Gilson Gray whose managing partner Glen Gilson resigned in 2013 from HBJ Gateley – now Addleshaw Goddard – amid disagreements on strategic direction.
He was concerned over a number of matters that included the firm’s vulnerability to English takeover and the relationship between its corporate and private client operations.
Mr Fleming, who joins as partner and head of the private client team, described his new role as “an amazing and exciting opportunity.” He was previously with Brodies. Mr Davies joins as a senior solicitor.
Mr Gilson said: “We’ve always shown a strong commitment to hiring the very best talent. Morton Fraser and Addleshaws are excellent firms. We wish them all the best.”
