Scottish gym and fitness equipment supplier Origin Fitness expects to significantly increase sales and recruitment over the next three years as it capitalises on the popularity of fitness and healthy living.
After a strong start to the financial year, the Edinburgh-headquartered company is now in the top five commercial fitness equipment companies in the UK.
It aims to double turnover to £20 million and headcount to more than 100 with new jobs in marketing, sales, logistics, warehousing, finance, engineering and product development.
Over the past decade, it has worked with more than 3,000 facilities globally and in 2017 supplied more than 100,000 fitness products into the market, including North Lanarkshire Leisure, The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and The Ministry of Defence.
Other clients include Nuffield Health, Xercise4Less and Anytime Fitness. It also designed gyms for The Open Golf Championships and Scottish Power’s head office in Glasgow.
The UK fitness industry is worth just under £5 billion and there are now more than 7,000 gyms with total membership approaching 10 million.
Co-founder and Managing Director Paul Bodger said: “The fitness industry has undergone a period of huge growth, major change and acceleration in many areas.
“We’ve come such a long way since we founded the company in 2008, but there’s still huge potential for us to drive the business forward by setting a new standard for suppliers in our industry.”
