Large takes temporary berth as Brightsolid CIO
Brightsolid, the Scottish co-location and cloud solutions company, has appointed an interim chief information officer to lead an ongoing transformation of its technology and service delivery offerings.
Philip Large, who brings more than 20 years of enterprise technology leadership experience to the company, will be responsible for the technical strategy and end-to-end design and delivery of the company’s technology-based services.
The appointment comes after chief technology officer Malcolm Dobson announced plans to retire after more than 20 years.
Mr Large, former technology manager for the London 2012 Olympics, will initially take on the new CIO position for three months, with the opportunity for it to become a permanent position.
Brightsolid’s chief executive, Elaine Van Der Berg, said: “We continue to strengthen our solutions offering and have restructured our business to meet the evolving needs of clients as businesses increasingly shift towards cloud computing.”
Mr Large said: “The journey to the cloud is inevitable for all organisations, creating a significant opportunity for Brightsolid.
“By 2019, around 80% of IT budgets will be dedicated to cloud technology and we need to make sure we are in a strong position to maximise this opportunity.”
