Duncan’s in first own-brand deal with Lidl

Food firm Duncan’s of Deeside has agreed a £150,000 deal to supply supermarket group Lidl UK in the first own-brand collaboration between the grocer and baker.
The deal will seee Duncan’s supply shortbread to 95 Scottish stores and follows the move to a new bakery in Laurencekirk.
Based in the heart of Aberdeenshire, Duncan’s has grown significantly in the last five years and employs a team of 28 craft bakers.
Paul Duncan, managing director, said: “We have been in business for over 30 years and our move to our new bakery in Laurencekirk means we are able to reach a much wider market in the UK and overseas.”
Lidl’s head of regional buying for Scotland, Paul McQuade said: “We are firmly committed to supporting and championing local producers.”
