Hires for SWA, Charlotte St P’ners and Represent

The Scotch Whisky Association has appointed Gerry McFall as director of strategy and communication.

Mr McFall (pictured) has extensive UK and international experience in strategy and communications, business development, media relations and public affairs and reputation management.

Most recently, he has been the director of global public affairs & communication campaigns at Leonardo Helicopters in Italy, a global aerospace company.

He will oversee all facets of the SWA’s external relations including, public affairs, media relations and stakeholder engagement.

Mr McFall said: “It’s important to face the challenges and seize the opportunities in our emerging trading relationships and I will bring all my experience and commitment to support continued industry growth.”

Associate for Charlotte Street Partners

Strategic communications agency Charlotte Street Partners has appointed Iain Gibson as associate partner.

Mr Gibson joins the agency at its Edinburgh base from global strategic communications consultancy Finsbury where he spent seven years in the firm’s Middle East & Africa offices, advising government and private sector clients across the region.

Charlotte Street Partners was created in 2014 by founding partners Malcolm Robertson and Andrew Wilson as a strategic communications and advisory firm. Mr Gibson’s appointment takes the number of staff to 18.

Mr Robertson, said: “[Mr Gibson] joins us at an exciting time and one of considerable growth for the agency. We continue to look for further opportunities to challenge the potential of our existing team and to recruit new talent. We hope to have further announcements to make later in the summer.”

Prior to leaving Scotland in 2011, Mr Gibson spent six years in the press office at Holyrood for the Scottish Conservatives.

Account manager for Represent

PR and digital communications agency Represent has appointed Janet Anderson  as PR & digital account manager.

She brings with her a wealth of marketing, PR and sponsorship experience having spent the last seven years working for SSE, the energy company.

Her experience ranges from brand management and digital marketing to sponsorship activation and PR. She has worked across large-scale projects including the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Andy Murray Live presented by SSE.

In her new role at Edinburgh-based Represent she will be responsible for managing a range of clients, as well as working with senior management team to bring in new clients.
