Scotland manager Alex McLeish has named six newcomers in his first squad for the friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary later this month.
In-form Hibs star Dylan McGeouch has been rewarded for some impressive displays for Neil Lennon’s side this season, while 30-year-old Hearts goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is also called onto the international set-up for the first time.
With Swansea’s Oli McBurnie, Barry Douglas (Wolves), Scott McKenna (Aberdeen) and Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay also included there is a welcome freshness about the squad.
It’s McLeish’s second stint as manager of the national team having replaced Gordon Strachan and he has wasted little time in putting his own stamp on the squad.
Ikechi Anya, James Morrison, James McArthur, Robert Snodgrass, Barry Bannan, Chris Martin and Steven Fletcher, who were all regulars under his predecessor, have all been overlooked.
Costa Rica visit Hampden on 23 March before the Scots travel to Hungary for another friendly four days later.
Former internationals Peter Grant and James McFadden have been appointed as assistant coaches by McLeish, while Stevie Woods takes over as goalkeeping coach.
The trio have all signed two-year deals.

John McGinn (Hibs), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Scott McTominay (Manchester United), Jamie Murphy (Brighton, on loan at Rangers), Matt Ritchie (Newcastle), Ryan Christie (Celtic, on loan at Aberdeen).
