Brand expanding in Scotland
Poundland to open 150 Pep & Co outlets
Pep & Co outlets will appear in Poundland stores
Poundland is to take on some of the biggest fashion retailers on the high street by opening more than 150 Pep & Co ‘shop-in-shop’ fashion outlets in its stores over the next 12 months.
The move will begin on 1 February with openings in the UK, and in Ireland before Easter.
Poundland stores with fashion concessions will be available for the the first time in 11 new locations in Scotland and five in France.
The expansion will put Poundland’s Pep & Co brand in more than 300 locations by the end of the year and comes just days after the retailer secured new loan funding to maintain its ambitious investment plans.
If expected volume sales are met, Poundland expects to become a top 15 clothing retailer by volume alongside or ahead of the likes of River Island, Top Man, Asos and Peacocks based on widely used 26-week fashion research data.
It is opening the first of more than 30 Republic of Ireland Pep & Co concessions in its Dealz stores before Easter.
Pep & Co managing director Adrian Mountford said: “This Christmas we sold over a million more items than we did in our whole first year of trading from standalone stores.
“Thanks to our partnership with Poundland – and now Dealz in the Republic of Ireland – we’re set to double in size over the coming year.
Poundland’s UK & Ireland managing director Barry Williams, said: “We’re set to become a major fashion player.”
