Buzzworks focuses on east for expansion

Scottish hospitality group Buzzworks Holdings is on the lookout for new restaurant opportunities in the east after ending its last financial year with a 15.6% rise in turnover.
The Ayrshire-based company saw income rise from £12.8 million to £14.8m for the year to the end of April 2017. with pre-tax profit up by 9.2% from £635,626 to £694,248.
Recent additions to the portfolio include the Corner House in Kilwinning and The Coach House in Bridge of Weir – its first outside Ayrshire – taking the total to ten.
There has been significant investment in its established restaurants including a £500,000 refurbishment of the flagship Scotts in Troon. The company’s payroll rose by 13% from 387 to 438.
Owners Kenny, Colin and Alison Blair are looking ahead to the opening of Scotts at Port Edgar Marina, near the Queensferry Crossing in the summer.
Kenny Blair said: “Last year was an exciting time for Buzzworks Holdings and as a company we achieved some healthy results; however we are constantly looking forward and our focus is now on how to make 2018 even more of a success as we expand into the east coast and beyond.
“We move forward with cautious optimism as the sector continues to face challenges relating to increased supplier and staff costs. However, we have managed this well.”
