Erskine House: conversion to ‘cabin’ hotel

Budget hotel chain Yotel, which is redeveloping former offices in Edinburgh, says the  facility will open early in 2019.

The company announced in September that it would occupy Erskine House in Queen Street. The project marks the first use of a $250 million strategic partnership with an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, a global private investment firm.

The hotel will have 280 rooms, known as ‘cabins’.

Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot, said: “YOTEL is on a rapid expansion path and the announcement of our Edinburgh city hotel plays an integral part in our future plans in Scotland and the rest of the globe.”

The hotel will feature a two-storey screening room and bar fronting Queen Street.

Edinburgh-based Fletcher Joseph Architects, global interior designer, Aedas and construction firm ISG have been contracted.

Yotel operates at London Gatwick and Heathrow airports, Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris, Charles de Gaulle and has hotels in New York, Boston and Singapore.
