Powerleague’s Spence hired as Collagen CFO

Hilary SpenceStem cell company Collagen Solutions has appointed Scottish-qualified chartered accountant Hilary Spence as chief financial officer.

Ms Spence will be based in the AIM-quoted firm’s Glasgow office and will join the board.

She takes over from Gill Black who has decided to step down for family reasons. Ms Black will remain with the company, maintain her role as company secretary and will assist Ms Spence in the smooth transition of roles.

Ms Spence has more than 30 years’ commercial experience in finance across a number of multi-sector businesses.

Over her career she has been involved in a number of successful business transformations with a broad range of companies including Heineken, Vodafone, Motorola and Premier Foods and smaller more entrepreneurial businesses.

Most recently she was Interim CFO at the private equity funded five-a-side-football company Powerleague, where she was integral to the restructuring and transformation of finance systems.

Ms Spence is a member of ICAS and has a degree in Business Economics and MBA from Strathclyde University.
